Brief
This project explores the potential of leveraging data from networking infrastructure to provide a SaaS-based monitoring, reporting, and alerting solution. Commissioned by a leading networking equipment manufacturer, the goal was to create an intuitive interface that transforms raw network data into actionable insights.
Impact
The demo was a hit in Barcelona and won an award for 'Best Wi-Fi Service Innovation' at the Wireless Broadband Alliance Industry Awards in 2015.
The product has since been worked on by the client and continues to be a key part of the service offerings for the business.
Motivations
The business vertical wanted to add to their service offerings and intended to provide this as a SaaS solution. The chief motivation was to build on the metaphor of a "visualized network" where customers would be able to understand the network data in order to identify and capitalize on new opportunities.
About the project
A large networking equipment manufacturer developed a technical POC to investigate the opportunity space for monetizing the data generated by access points which are a part of the networking infrastructure for living and working spaces; this design project was commissioned to produce the interface with which use cases for monitoring the network, alerting for specific incidents and generating performance reports could be shown at an annual industry event in Barcelona Spain.
